Informative Event for Tourism Enterprises in South Kynouria

Municipality of South Kynouria together with the Regional Development Agency of Parnonas and the Association of Hoteliers and Tourist Accommodation of Arcadia organized the informative event for touristic enterprises within the framework of new programming period CLLD/LEADER 2014-2020 on Wednesday 17/02/2016 at 5 PM at Fabbrica of Culture.

The event was entitled “Certification Procedures for Tourist Accommodation in South Kynouria Municipality” according to the Ministerial Decisions and respective Amendments t no. 216 / 01.08.2015 and no. 21185 / 22.10.2014.

A presentation on new legislation took place concerning the following:

  • defining technical and functional specifications and the points of criteria for hotels and their classification in categories of stars. (GG: 216 / 01.08.2015)
  • keys categorization system and setting of technical operating standards for rented furnished rooms – apartments (EYID). (FEK21185 / 10.22.2014)
  • the inspection and classification of hotels and EYID into categories Star and Key, according to the Ministerial Decisions and  respective amendments no. 216 / 08.01.2015 and no. 21185 / 22.10.2014

The main speaker was Mr. Nicholas Saroukos, Head of Regional Tourism Agency – in Tripoli with the theme “Strengthening Capabilities and Upgrading Touristic Identity in South Kynouria through new technical specifications and operational requirements of touristic facilities”.

Moreover, the Local CLLD Program / LEADER for Eastern Peloponnese 2014-2020 was presented where stakeholders were informed about the possibilities of improvements and modernizations of tourist accommodation.

The “CLLD” program from its initials «COMMUNITY – LED LOCAL DEVELOPMENT», is a method of designing and implementing development strategies, based on the LEADER approach, which will be implemented for the period 2014 – 2020.

    In the exhibition area of  Fabrica of Culture, has installed environmental interpretation report with integrated thematic approach of the region, through a dynamic and interactive presentation style, in order to:

    • promote and enhance of agricultural production (primary sector) and seaborne trade (tertiary sector) and the relationship between them in the Eastern Peloponnese
    • provide information about the economic and social life of the region of Tsakonia during the 19th and 20th century,
    • emergence of specific cultural identity of the wider area of ​​Tsakonia and Kynouria
    • strengthening of the tourism product of the region.

    The exhibition is divided into three sections.

    Α’ Chapter: From the “garden of Dionysus” to the garden of “Leonidio”

    • Gods and myths of Kynouria: The Garden of Dionysus and the cave of Ino.
    • Since ancient Kynourians to Herod Atticus: The ancient settlements of Kynouria and the ancient port of Prasies.
    • The Tsakonia in the Middle Ages: “Tzekones” and “Kastrofylakas”, the “rebel” Tsakonians.
    • Architectural masterpieces: Architecture and Nature: a harmonious dialogue, to the traces of monastic life, lofty towers, hewing the stone.
    • “Tsakonia … the specifics of isolation”, “Kaur ekokiate” – The region, The Tsakonian language, Rare artefacts – Tsakonian traditional costume and Tsakonian weaving, The Tsakonikes dance.

    Β’ Chapter: From the garden of “Leonidio” to the Protected Designation of Origin

    Agriculture and development of crops of olives and vines, vegetables and eggplant, rural construction and facilities.

    • “From the garden of” Lenidi “: Ottoman – Frankish,” The gifts of the earth “- Vegetables, Eggplant with Denomination of Origin, Agricultural structures and facilities.
    • Landowners, gardeners: Social Structures, Social and economic classes.
    • “Return”: Emigration and internal migration. “Other … neighborhoods” of Tsakones.
